Cape Fear Craft Beer Alliance forms in the Port City

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Craft Beer Alliance is all about bringing folks in the industry together.

“There’s a huge craft beer trend in Wilmington as there is all across the country. North Carolina is one of the top craft beer places in the south,” said president Jeremy Tomlinson.

Any business with an emphasis on craft brews is welcome.

“As Wilmington becomes more of a craft beer destination we kinda wanted to come together,” said Tomlinson.

For Rob Robinson, president and co-founder of Waterline Brewing Co. joining was a no brainer.

“We opened about eight months ago and ever since then it’s been something that I feel has been needed,” said Robinson.

The Alliance plans to hold events throughout the year including a Cape Fear Beer Week at the end of March to help kick off Beer Month.

“That’s part of the attraction of craft beer is getting together as a community. What you hear if you go talk to other brewers or other bottle shops is that although we’re our own businesses and we want to make money, it’s actually a lot of collegiality,” Robinson said.

The Alliance hopes through joining forces, breweries in Wilmington will have a voice in the area.
