Cape Fear Kite Festival ends early due to weather

FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Kite Festival filled the skies this weekend for the 10th year in a row.

The festival was held at a new location down in Pleasure Island at Fort Fisher. It was held previously held in Wrightsville Beach.

Kite fliers launched flags all shapes, sizes, styles, and colors that went along with the marine theme of the festival.

Organizers say they were forced to shut down early today due to strong wind and rain.
