Captain Eddy Haneman’s compass donated to museum
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wrightsville Beach Museum of History received a special donation this afternoon.
Blair Poteate and his wife donated a compass that was once owned by Captain Eddy Haneman.
This captain is known for establishing deep sea fishing on our coast.
This compass came off of his first charter boat dating back to the 40’s and 50’s.
Poteate said he bought the compass at an auction.
“Well it’s the most awesome piece of Captain Eddy Haneman’s past that I’ve seen and it surfaced late and when I saw it, I knew I had to have it,” Poteate said.
Poteate said he donated the compass because he wants everyone to enjoy it.
