Carolers sing holiday ceasefire carols in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A group of carolers in Wilmington were singing holiday songs while trying to send an important message.

In downtown Wilmington in front of the new City of Wilmington campus, more than a dozen carolers gathered to sing holiday songs calling for the end of antisemitism, Islamophobia and a ceasefire between the war involving Gaza and Israel. During the caroling, some of the lyrics were changed to help support the end of the war and ceasing fire.

Peter Rawitsch, one of the carolers, said the message they are trying to send during this time of year is one of peace.

“Well with the news coming out of Israel and Gaza, it’s just horrible. It seems to get worse with each day. The killing has to stop and during this time of peace and love, it seems very appropriate to come together and bring the message to our community,” Rawitsch said.

Rawitsch says that Wilmington isn’t the only place ceasefire caroling is taking place, it is happening all across the world at this time.
