Carolina Beach warns of phishing emails posing as town staff

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Carolina Beach is warning residents about fraudulent “phishing” emails that appear to be coming from the town or its employees.
Town officials said they became aware of the scam emails on Monday. The messages are designed to steal personal information or trick recipients by mimicking legitimate government communication.
Residents are urged to use caution, verify sender email addresses and avoid clicking links or opening attachments in emails that seem suspicious.
If you are unsure whether an email is actually from the town, officials say to contact the Town of Carolina Beach at 910.458.2999.
