Case continued for Leland teacher facing marijuana charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County middle school teacher appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday.

Catherine Teague, a former 6th-grade math and science teacher at Leland Middle School, was arrested on Wednesday, May 12.

She is charged with three felonies including manufacturing marijuana; trafficking in marijuana; and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and distribute in marijuana. She also faces one misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Teague’s case was continued because she does not yet have an attorney. Her next court date is set for July 7.

The 48-year-old resigned from Leland Middle School shortly after her arrest. She had been employed with Brunswick County Schools since 1996.
