FAIR BLUFF, NC (WWAY) — As hurricane season ramps up, Catholic Charities Cape Fear Region is partnering with local organizations to help families get ready. A free Disaster Preparedness Event and Mobile Food Pantry will be held Friday, June 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 204 Elm Street in Fair Bluff.

Organizers say the family-friendly event will feature live safety demonstrations, hands-on learning stations, and free disaster preparedness materials. Attendees can also pick up lunch to go.

Key demonstrations will include how to safely use a generator, board up windows, and apply emergency tarps. There will also be a hands-on construction skills station for kids, hosted by Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Participants will receive no-cost food boxes, weather radios, and “No Cook” Cookbooks—donated and sponsored by Food Lion and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
