Certain Harris Teeter locations open, others stay closed

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Residents are ready to get out of their homes as the storm moves out. People are flocking to grocery stores and gas stations, looking for any place that is open.

People are lining up outside the harris teeter in leland. The location in Wilmington has opened up, but the one in Leland will stay closed.

The grocery store’s generator actually blew out during the storm. People are just desperate to find whatever open business that they can.

“Well we come here all the time, to harris teeter, and I figured I would just come up here and hope that they would be open. Or somebody down here would have a generator to operate a big business, but I guess not,” said resident John Caracciolo.

The fuel truck got to the store this afternoon to refuel the generator, but a manager with Harris Teeter says they likely not be able to open today though because of staffing issues.
