CFA’s Chase Carraway moving up leaderboard in Youth Sailing Worlds
CORPUS CHRISI, TX ( WWAY) — Wrightsville Beach native and graduate of Cape Fear Academy Chase Carraway is moving up the leaderboards in the 2018 Youth Sailing World Championships.
Carraway finished day one of competition in eighth place after two races. With two more races under his belt, he is now in sixth trailing New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Brazil and Norway.
“Representing the United States is a huge honor,” Carraway said. “I’ve been working at this goal for the past four years, all of high school. I’m honored to be representing the U.S. finally in my senior year. There’s only one person from each country in each class that gets to qualify and come here, that just makes it super special. With everyone staying in the same hotel, it’s really cool meeting people from all over the world as well.”
The competition will run until Friday June 20.
