CFCC to host Division II Region 10 basketball tournaments

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College announced Wednesday it will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Region 10 Conference men’s and women’s basketball tournaments next week.

The tournaments will take place March 5-8 at the Schwartz Center, located at 610 N. Front Street in Wilmington.

According to a news release, this marks the third consecutive year CFCC has hosted the men’s tournament, while the women’s tournament will be held at the venue for the first time.

Tournament Schedule:

Wednesday, March 5
Men’s Quarterfinals: Noon, 2 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m.

Thursday, March 6
Women’s Quarterfinals: 10 a.m., Noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m.
Men’s Semifinals: 6:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m.

Friday, March 7
Women’s Semifinals: 2 p.m., 4 p.m.
Men’s Championship: 7 p.m.

Saturday, March 8
Women’s Championship: 1 p.m.

Seeding details for teams will be announced by the Region 10 Conference during the week of the tournament.

The women’s tournament winner earns a bid to the NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Tournament, scheduled for March 17-22 at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Missouri. The men’s champion will advance to the NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Tournament, held at the Mary Miller Center in Danville, Illinois, during the same dates.

Tickets can be purchased on-site at the Schwartz Center. Prices are $15 for a single-day pass or $25 for a full-tournament pass. Both cash and credit cards are accepted.
