CFPUA customers react to water restrictions
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — If you are a Cape Fear Public Utility Authority customer you need to start watching how much water you use.
Due to a waterline break in Columbus County, CFPUA residential and business customers are now under mandatory water restrictions until further notice. Starting Tuesday fines will be issued if you do not follow the restrictions.

All customers are being asked to cut down on all usage of water and businesses like The Reel Cafe have already begun cutting back on usages. Manager Jeff Taylor says they are prepared for situations like this while other residents in the area are not very concerned.
“As far as conserving water, when patrons come in if they ask for it we have to give it to them. Obviously because we have to run business as normal,” Taylor said. “Not watering our plants, and as far as spraying off certain areas that we have been doing during the summer, we’re trying to eliminate that as much as possible.”
Taylor also says another way they are conserving water is by making sure their dishwasher is completely packed before running it.
Wilmington resident, Suzanne Jones says “I’m not that concerned about it. I mean I think everybody as a community can decrease the amount of water they’re using at a time of need right now until it’s fixed.”
