CFPUA director to present annual report at Wilmington City Council meeting

NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — The executive director of Wilmington’s water utility provider is slated to speak during the city council meeting Tuesday night.

Kenneth Waldroup — who leads the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority — will present CFPUA’s annual report.

The report encompasses main projects completed this year and upcoming projects, along with financial reports.

We spoke to Waldroup about the Fuquay-Varina inter-basin transfer application at a meeting held by Cape Fear River Watch this past Saturday, and he says there is only one win-win solution.

“Borrow and return the water. That is the best solution. It’s really the only solution that provides a win-win for everybody. Otherwise, the state’s decision makers are picking winners and losers, right? We want a win-win,” said Waldroup.

The Wilmington City Council meeting will be held Tuesday night at 6:30 pm at the Skyline Center in downtown Wilmington.
