CFPUA issues precautionary boil water advisory

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for parts of Eastwood Road and adjoining streets west of St. Mark Catholic Church.

In a release, officials say a 40-year-old, 8″ water main broke in the area. Officials say roughly 130 customers are affected.

The advisory covers 743-1013 Eastwood Road, on the odd side only. It also includes the 100 and 200 blocks of Bretonshire Road and Tanbridge Road, 100-300 blocks of Windemere Road, and 0 and 100 blocks of Long Leaf Acres Drive.

Customers in the area are advised to boil water for one minute and then allow it to cool before consuming it or to use another water source, such as bottled water. Consumption includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, food preparation, pet consumption, washing food, and the preparation of baby formula. It does not need to be boiled before showering or bathing.
