CFPUA lifts boil water advisory impacting about 250 Wilmington water customers

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A boil water advisory that went into effect Sunday morning for about 250 Wilmington residents near Shipyard Boulevard has been lifted.

According to Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA), the boil water advisory was issued as a precautionary measure while crews worked to repair broken valves in the area.

In a statement released Friday, CFPUA said there were possible concerns about “the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system” and that residents should boil their water for one minute before using it.

Prior to lifting the boil water advisory morning, CFPUA said lab staff tested the water to ensure it was safe for residents and business to use.
