Chapel Hill restaurant Al’s Burger Shack opening in Leland

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A Chapel Hill restaurant is making its way to Leland.

Al’s Burger Shack is set to open its doors this fall. It will be located in front of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store in the Leland Town Center.

There are two Al’s in Chapel Hill.

“We’re excited to bring Al’s Burger Shack to Southeastern North Carolina,” said Jason Kesler, owner of Al’s. ” I was born and raised in Wilmington and have been involved in the Leland community through the Jersey Mike’s in Waterford for years. The support we see there is incredible. The area is booming, and the people are great in Leland.”

Al’s first opened in Chapel Hill in 2013. According to a news release, TripAdvisor crowned Al’s Burger Shack as the Best Burger in America in 2018. Al’s is also a multiple time Indy Magazine best burgers in the triangle winner, and in 2023, it’s sea salt and rosemary fries placed top 3 in the Raleigh News and Observer poll for best fries in the triangle area.

Al’s Burger Shack in Leland will serve burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches.
