NC detectives rescue woman held captive, tortured by boyfriend
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police in North Carolina say a woman was badly beaten and held captive before officers rescued her.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told a news conference Wednesday that family members reported the woman missing on March 26.
Lt. Susan Manassah said investigators were worried something had happened to the woman, so they began a search using license plate cameras and other technology. They also determined she had just started dating a man in the past few weeks.
Using cell phone data and social media, officers went to a home where they found the woman’s car on March 27. A man answered the door and officers called out the woman’s name. She made a noise and officers found her.
Police arrested 35-year-old Jamuel Alston on multiple charges, including attempted murder, rape and kidnapping.
