Cherry Woodbury no longer head coach at Laney High School

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Laney High School has parted ways with the head coach of the girls’ basketball team.

Cherry Woodbury took over as head girls basketball coach at Laney back in 2024 but will no longer be the coach for the team.

Laney High School Athletic Director Fred Lynch confirmed the change and that he would be taking over for Woodbury for the remainder of the season.

The reason for the removal is a personnel reason, and Laney is unable to share any further details at this time.
