Child hit by falling bullet in North Carolina
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) – Police say a child in North Carolina suffered minor injuries when someone apparently fired a gun into the air and the youngster was hit by a falling bullet.
Winston-Salem police said in a news release that the shooting happened late Saturday afternoon.
Police did not identify the child or release the age or gender. The news release said the child was hit in the head by a “falling projectile” that fell through a canopy covering a backyard swimming pool.
Police don’t know where the shot was fired.
Winston-Salem police note it’s illegal to fire a gun in the city limits.
