Church community holds Sunday service at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — One church community will not let Florence rain on their parade. The Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church held their Sunday service at a special spot today.

The church was hit with flooding and other damage during Florence, but they did not let that stop them from coming together.

Last Sunday, they even held a service under the awning of Harris Teeter. In good spirits, each person brought their own lawn chair to enjoy the waterfront service.

Pastor John McIntyre says it is not about where you worship, but it is about the people you are surrounded by.

“Everybody here has experienced some damage from the storm. And our own building has experienced some damage, but we’re fine. Because the building is not the church. What you just saw here was the church. Is the church,” said McIntyre.

McIntyre says they look at situation as a blessing and an opportunity to get out and serve the community even more.
