Civil air patrol, Rep. Rouzer honor Memorial Day

ST. JAMES, NC (WWAY) — Dozens came out to observe Memorial Day with Rep. David Rouzer at St. James Plantation.

This was the first year a plane with the civil air patrol flew over the St. James Veterans Memorial Day Service, and this was the first year Rep. Rouzer (R-7th District) shared a few words as their keynote speaker.

Between the presentation of the colors and the keynote speaker, the Cessna 182 with the civil air patrol flew over the audience.

American Legion Post 543 Commander Rick Sessa says this was just one of the ways they honored all of the fallen men and woman who served this country.

Rep. Rouzer says he was honored to share his appreciation.

“You know we wouldn’t have what we have in this country today, the freedom and the opportunity to pursue our hopes and our dreams if it weren’t for our men and women who serve us and particularly those who pay the ultimate sacrifice,” Rouzer said.

The St. James Veterans Memorial also holds an annual ceremony for Veterans Day and 9/11.
