Coast Guard transports injured fisherman Saturday


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Coast Guard transported an injured man Saturday from a fishing boat near Hatteras Inlet.

Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a call from the 78-foot fishing boat around 10:30 a.m. Saturday to transport a 58-year-old fisherman to shore for medical treatment after he sustained injuries to his fingers while shrimping.

A water crew arrived alongside the boat approximately two miles east of Hatteras Inlet just before noon and transported the man to Station Hatteras Inlet, where he was placed in the care of awaiting Dare County EMS.
