Coldest weather in years on tap for Cape Fear this weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A major blast of arctic air in on the way to the Cape Fear.
Highs on Saturday aren’t expected to make it out of the 30s, with Sunday only being a few degrees warmer.
Saturday’s high will be the coldest Wilmington has seen since only topping out at 33 degrees on December 24, 2022.
A projected low of 17 degrees Sunday morning would be the coldest temperature the Port City has recorded since January 8, 2018.
Wind chill values Sunday morning are expected to be in the 10-15 degree range.
Make sure to protect your pipes and your pets from the dangerous cold blast.
The good news is the freezing weather doesn’t last too long. We’ll see 60s and 70s by the end of next week.
