Columbus County man facing stolen gun, drug charges

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Council man faces several drug and gun charges after a search turns up a large quantity of drugs and stolen guns inside a vehicle during a traffic stop.

The Columbus County Sheriff says troopers arrested Ramon Jarvar Currie, 25, after stopping him near the intersection of US 701 and NC 211 in Clarkton. That’s where the sheriff says troopers discovered nearly two pounds of pot and two stolen firearms inside Currie’s car.

Currie was charged with a traffic infraction by Highway Patrol, then turning the evidence over to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit for further charges.

Currie is now charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and deliver the drug, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substances, and two counts of possession of a stolen firearm.
