Columbus County Sheriff’s Office makes pair of arrests during separate traffic stops

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Two people were recently arrested for various charges during two separate traffic stops.
Deputies were conducting a license checking station at the intersection of Woodyard Road and Weyman Road on February 16th around 7:00 p.m.
During a routine stop deputies say they noticed the driver of a silver Chevrolet Tahoe was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was asked for identification and to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. While standing outside the vehicle deputies say they noticed the driver fidgeting around their waistband. Deputies performed a pat down and felt a firearm, finding it to be stolen.
After receiving verbal consent deputies then performed a search of the vehicle. The search resulted in deputies finding a baggie containing an amount of cocaine in the passenger seat, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
Jacob Jerode Fox, 35, of Riegelwood, was arrested, and charged with one count Carrying a Concealed Firearm, one count Possession of Stolen Firearm, and one count Possession of Cocaine.
Fox received a $9,000 secured bond.
The next night around 7:00 p.m., while conducting a saturation patrol in the city limits of Chadbourn, deputies executed a traffic stop on Kirkland Street. Deputies say they noticed a strong smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle as well as spotting marijuana cigarettes in the cup holder. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle while deputies performed a search. The search of the vehicle yielded an amount of marijuana, an amount of THC, a set of digital scales, and packaging materials, according to Deputies.
Joshua Blake Hunt, 26, of Lumberton was brought in and arrested for one count felony offense Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver, one count Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance, and one count Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia.
Hunt received a $10,000 unsecured bond.
