Comey to testify before Senate Intel Committee next week

WASHINGTON, DC (WWAY) — Fired FBI Director James Comey will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week.

An announcement from committee chair Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) and vice chair Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said Comey will testify June 8.

The hearing about Russian effort to interfere in the 2016 US elections will start in open session at 10 a.m. A closed session will follow at 1 p.m.

President Trump fired Comey last month.

The Justice Department later appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to handle the Russian investigation as a special counsel.
