Community leaders ask for more Alzheimer’s research
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — U.S. Representative David Rouzer visited the Wilmington area Monday to speak to constituents about Alzheimer’s Disease.
Residents met the congressman at the New Hanover County Senior Resource Center to talk about their concerns over funding for the disease. They said that compared to cancer and other diseases, Alzheimer’s is the least-funded. Rouzer said he’s advocating for all types of diseases and research.
“I mentioned to them that Congress, or the House rather, recently passed the 21st Century Cures Act which is a huge investment of dollars in research across the board for all diseases including Alzheimer’s and it’s always good to hear from folks firsthand and particularly the caregivers and the struggles and the issues that they deal with,” Rouzer said.
Organizers also encourage you to join Rep. Rouzer for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Mayfaire on November 7.
