Community tips lead to multiple fentanyl trafficking arrests

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Three people were arrested and charged with multiple drug charges according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple residents from the Flagship community in Southport reported to the sheriff’s office they suspected drug activity involving Jeremy Bassett.
On December 18th, 2025, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Agents and the K9 Unit, conducted a traffic stop involving Bassett, Isaiah Rodgers, and Katelyn Benedict. This resulted in the seizure of a trafficking amount of fentanyl.
All three individuals were arrested and are being held at the Brunswick County Detention Facility with no bond.
36-year-old, Bassett, is charged with 2 counts of trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver fentanyl, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances, conspiracy to traffic opium/heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Rodgers is charged with 2 counts of trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver fentanyl, conspiracy to traffic opium/heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
21-year-old, Benedict, is charged with, 2 counts of trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver fentanyl, conspiracy to traffic opium/heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing justice.
According to the magistrate order, Benedict removed evidence that they concealed and attempted to destroy it by stomping on it with both feet while in the back of a patrol car.
