Concerns about possible metal, plastic contamination lead to cottage cheese recall
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Breakstone’s has recalled 9,500 cases of cottage cheese due to the potential presence of pieces of red plastic and metal inside the product.
The company discovered the issue after a customer contacted them after discovering pieces of red plastic inside a container of cottage cheese. There have been six other complaints and no reports of illness or injury related to this issue, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The products subject to recall are:
- Breakstone’s 2% Milkfat Low-fat Large Curd Cottage Cheese
- Breakstone’s 4% Milkfat Large Curd Cottage Cheese
- Breakstone’s 4% Milkfat Small Curd Cottage Cheese
The products have a best if used date of December 10, 2019.
Anyone who has purchased the product should not eat it but rather return it back to the store for an exchange or full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-866-572-3805 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, for a full refund.
