Controlled burn in downtown Whiteville to help clear way for new City hall


WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) – The city of Whiteville Fire Department used development for a new city hall as a training session over the weekend.

Whiteville Fire tells us a home along Madison Street in downtown Whiteville has to move to make way for the new city hall. Whiteville firefighters decided to do a controlled live burn on the home before it is completely demolished.

The burn took just over an hour.

Whiteville City leaders have had to conduct business in a rented space as the old city hall has had increasing issues with mold.
