Demolition underway where Wawa is scheduled to be built on S. 17th Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Demolition has begun in an area where a new convenience store is expected to be built.

Crews are tearing down several buildings at the corner of South 17th Street and Wellington Avenue, site of the now former Samelin Center. Among the businesses that are gone, P.T.’s Grille, Tinyz Tavern and a Pizza Hut.

A Wawa convenience store is set to be built in that location, which will be one of ten locations scheduled to be built in southeastern North Carolina.
