Deputies arrested man after finding meth, explosive device

BEULAVILLE, N.C. (AP) – Authorities in Duplin County have arrested a man after finding methamphetamine, high-powered rifles and what was described as a homemade explosive device in his home.

WNCT-TV in Greenville reports (http://bit.ly/2e5fwsE) the sheriff’s office said James Rusk of Beulaville was arrested on a number of drug and weapons charges following an investigation by state and local agencies.

Deputies said they found 28.8 grams of methamphetamine, 3.4 grams of heroin, 17 guns, 60 grams of marijuana, an explosive device and $471 when they searched Rusk’s home. The sheriff’s office said deputies took precautions to limit the threat to the neighborhood.

Rusk, who was arrested Thursday, is being held in the Duplin County jail in lieu of $189,000 bail. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
