Firefighters teach kids about safety at Dunkin’ Donuts community event
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Dunkin’ Donuts on Carolina Beach Road hosted a child safety community event as students, teachers and parents gear up for a new school year.
The event, held at the Carolina Beach Road location, featured fire truck tours and school supply giveaways. The Myrtle Grove Fire Department were on hand to show kids the truck while the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office gave out free official children IDs at the event. Parents were also able to take advantage of a Q&A with the Wilmington Health Department.
Dunkin’ Donuts General Manager Heather Sebastian said event like this one are very important, not only for the kids but also the parents.
“We brought the children out here just to give them the influence from our community volunteers, fire department and the sheriff’s department,” Sebastian said. “You never know where they want to go in their careers and their life, and for them to meet them and take a tour of the fire trucks and meet the sheriffs and everyone who keeps their town safe, I think it’s just an awesome opportunity for the parents to bring them out.”
Dunkin’ Donuts also offered a free doughnut to children with a purchase of a drink.
