Eastern NC public game land roads close ahead of hurricane
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Just as duck season gets underway in North Carolina, access to some hunting grounds will be limited thanks to Hurricane Matthew.
In anticipation of impacts from Hurricane Matthew, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission will begin closing public game land roads in 23 counties, including Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender, on Thursday.
Hunters will still be allowed to access the game lands on foot. Game land roads will remain closed until Commission personnel have checked each road and deemed it to be safe and suitable for public use.
