El Galeon to depart from Wilmington Monday
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The El Galeon is ready for departure and headed to its next stop after Wilmington.
The Wilmington Harbor Enhancement Trust brought the reproduced 16th century ship and its crew to the port city for people to get a first hand look at life aboard the Spanish supply ship.
After a week long visit, the crew said it cannot extend its stay. The El Galeon will depart Monday at 4:30 a.m. Depending on its speed, it should reach the Cape Fear River mouth by 8:30 a.m. and could be viewed departing from Southport and Oak Island.
The next stop is Charleston, Sc and then to St. Augustine, Fl.
