Eleven Wildcats sign to play college athletics
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As the spring sports continue in the high school world, that means signing day season is back in effect. Today the festivities brought us to Brogden Hall for a New Hanover signing day.
The eleven Wildcats signed their National Letters of Intent and represented three sports.
McCain Wnek, Matthew Bowerman, Cole Tanner, Koby Hatcher, Jack Cruz and Brittany Flores will play lacrosse.
On the college court you’ll find Azariah Fields, Kasha McLucas and Amani Muhammad playing basketball.
Finally, Mitch Baddour and Brett Kemp will play baseball.
These athletes have competed in state title games, scored thousands of points and won countless games, but this is their top achievement.
“This is definitely right at the top,” Flores said. “I get to play where I want to play and I get to pursue my career. I’m going into the Army so I get to be in lacrosse and in the Army and it’s fantastic for me.”
“It gives me the chance to play at the next level so it’s right up there with the state championship as far as importance to me.” Tanner said.
“This was my goal,” Fields said. “This is what I wanted. This is where all my hard work and heart went to, to get a scholarship and play basketball somewhere.”
Congratulations and best of luck at the next level!
