Etters takes individual title as New Hanover wins MEC boys golf tournament

CALABASH, N.C. (WWAY) – The New Hanover boys dominated in the MEC boys golf tournament Monday at Brunswick Plantation.
New Hanover won the team title by 23 strokes. Hoggard and Topsail tied for 2nd place.
Carson Etters of the Wildcats took the individual title after shooting a 5-under 67. Maddux Cook of Hoggard placed 2nd four strokes back.
William Davis of New Hanover, Sterett Farmer of Topsail and Dylan Lewis of Hoggard rounded out the top five.
New Hanover and Topsail will advance to 4A Regionals while South Brunswick advances to 3A Regionals.
In Class 4A, Lewis and Cook will advance as individuals. Alongside them are Liam Rountree of Ashley and Parker Joyner of Laney.
In Class 3A, individual qualifiers include Jude Surigao and Spencer Agner of West Brunswick, as well as Ethan Trexler and John Fanning of North Brunswick.
