Families mourn, forgive following fatal car crash

CHARLOTTE, NC (WWAY)–  Families filled a Southpark church in Charlotte this afternoon to mourn the loss of two children under the age of three.

Several members of the Eddings family were traveling last Sunday on Highway 17 in Pender County when a box truck hit a car with a pregnant mother and her toddler.

The crash killed her two-year-old son Dobbs and doctors performed an emergency delivery, but his newborn brother died as well.

Their father, Gentry Eddings, is a worship leader at Forest Hill Church in Charlotte.

“It was a day of forgiveness, Gentry and Hadley want everyone to know they forgive the truck driver and that people make mistakes and the reason they are able to forgive is because Jesus forgave them,” family friend Stacey Martin said.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking people to make donations to “Mission of Hope Haiti.” It’s an organization that’s close to the Edding’s hearts.
