Fans welcome UNCW Men’s Basketball team after CAA Championship win

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNCW Seahawks are going to the NCAA Tournament.

Fans came out to celebrate the big win as the team arrived back at UNCW on Tuesday afternoon.

“It feels great to see all the support from the people here,” UNCW Guard Chris Flemmings said. “Came to support us all weekend and it’s been a great experience.”

“To see this, ever since the game was over yesterday,” UNCW Guard Ambrose Mosley said. “We had fans yelling. It was crazy.”

“We’re so proud of what we accomplished,” UNCW Men’s Basketball Head Coach Kevin Keatts said. “None of this would have been possible without your support … Before we played the game all I could think about was that we won 28 games and lost 5 … If they can play one more time, and get us a 29th victory and send us to the Big Dance then I would be the happiest coach in the world.”

“Since we lost to Duke a year ago this team has only lost 5 games in one entire year and when you think about those 5 games, we lost two of them by a point,” Keatts said.

“We’re primed to play whoever we get the opportunity to play,” Keatts said. “We’re not going into this tournament just glad to be there. We wanna go in there and win a lot of games.”

“If you thought last year was special, then come out on Sunday,” Keatts said. “I have no idea who we are playing and where we are playing. I don’t care.”

“We feel we can play with anybody in the country,” UNCW Guard C.J. Bryce said. “We’re just ready to see who we get picked for us Sunday.”

NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show Sunday will air at 5:30 p.m. on WWAY CBS.
