FINS UP FESTIVAL: A Friends of Wrightsville Beach celebration

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY)– The FINS UP FESTIVAL, held at Waterman’s Brewing Co., was a vibrant celebration that honored the late Jimmy Buffett while supporting a great cause.

This free outdoor ocean festival, held on September 1st, showcased local vendors from the Wrightsville area and brought together community members for a day of fun and purpose.

The event featured live music with two bands delivering classic hits, including beloved tunes from Jimmy Buffett.

Attendees enjoyed grabbing a drink while exploring various exhibits and learning about efforts to keep their beaches beautiful.

David West, a member of Friends of Wrightsville Beach, highlighted the event’s broader mission:

“A lot of us have lived here 40, 50… 60 years and have seen how Wrightsville has changed. We kind of like the old way a little better, but we want to maintain the beach and preserve what’s good. Projects like Riverwatch and the turtle project, along with masonboro.org, help us keep our treasures intact.”

The FINS UP FESTIVAL was more than just a celebration; it was an engaging way to connect the community with important environmental efforts and the spirit of Wrightsville Beach.
