Firefighter treated for heat-related illness after Wilmington house fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One firefighter was hospitalized for a heat-related illness after crews responded to a house fire late Monday morning in Wilmington.
According to a Wilmington Fire Departments spokeswoman, the call came in around 11 a.m. for a structure fire at the corner of Castle Street and 7th Street. Smoke was visible when crews arrived on scene, but all occupants were safely outside.
No civilian injuries were reported.
One firefighter was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment of a heat-related illness.
The Wilmington Fire Department says the Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross also responded to assist those impacted.
