FIRST ON 3 UPDATE: Man facing several charges following foot-chase
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say a Wilmington man faces several charges after a stop for speeding sparked a foot-chase, turning up more than 30 bindles of heroin Sunday night.
Officers say it all started in the 300 block of Brunswick Street just before 7 p.m. Sunday. Police say they tried pulling over a Chevy driven by Cedric Grady, 37, of Castle Hayne, when he jumped out of the vehicle and ran.
Police say the passenger, Christine Howard, 27, stayed in the vehicle while officers chased after Grady. They say a short time later, a witness called saying they had spotted the suspect.
Officers arrested both Grady and Howard after finding more than 30 bindles of heroin inside the vehicle. Officers say Howard faces charges for both possession of heroin and paraphernalia.
Grady is charged with possession of heroin with the intent to manufacture and deliver the drug, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, resisting an officer and driving with a revoked license, among other charges. He was booked in the New Hanover County Jail under $25,000 bond.
