FIRST ON 3: WPD makes 2 drug arrests following chase downtown
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Wilmington Police Department says a foot chase around 7:00 pm Sunday lead to two drug arrests after a traffic stop.
Cpl. Leslie Irving says two officers performed a traffic stop on Brunswick St for a potential seat belt violation.
As the vehicle pulled over and the officer stepped out to approach the vehicle, the driver, Cedric Damont Grady, jumped out of the car and ran on foot. One officer pursued the driver while the other stayed with the passenger, Christine Howard.
The officer detained Grady on N. 4th St. and found Heroin on him. Grady is charged with possession of a schedule one narcotic, driving during revocation, resist, hinder and delay, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a schedule one narcotic in a school zone.
Howard is charged with possession of a schedule one narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia.
