Former Wilmington doctor faces drug and gun charges
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A former Wilmington doctor is charged with multiple felonies.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says its Marine Unit spotted Darrin Eakins, 49, in the Intracoastal Waterway traveling erratically and almost running his boat aground.
Investigators searched his boat and found three guns, prescription drugs and meth.
Here are his charges:
3 counts of Possession of firearm by felon
2 counts of Maintain vehicle/dwelling controlled substance
2 counts of Possession of methamphetamine
2 counts of Possession of a II controlled substance
1 count of Possession of a IV controlled substance
Eakins is in jail under a $100,000 bond.
