LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Former WWAY evening anchor Randy Aldridge is returning — temporarily.

Randy is making his 2024 debut Friday during the 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. newscasts.

He anchored at WWAY for more than 10 years before leaving in March of 2022.

Randy isn’t coming back for good, though. He’s helping out while WWAY evening anchor Donna Gregory is away receiving medical treatment for her cancer diagnosis.

“I will be off the air for a while so I can undergo the treatment protocol doctors create. My plan is to get stronger and healthier each day, and prayers help, always,” Donna said.

The plan is for Randy Aldridge to fill in here and there, part time, with Jeff Rivenbark anchoring the other newscasts.

A new anchor may take Randy’s place in the next couple of months, filling in until Donna Gregory is able to return.
