Foundation giving $7M to Marine Corps kids for college

CAMP LEJUENE, NC (AP) — A nonprofit foundation that’s been giving college scholarships to military children for half a century is announcing a new round of giving at Camp Lejeune.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation on Friday announces $7 million in scholarship to 2,300 children of Marines. The foundation says almost 300 students are from North Carolina or attend a North Carolina university.

The foundation pays particular attention to students whose parents have been killed or wounded in combat or who have financial need.
