Frustration setting in for UNCW Seahawks Basketball

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — At this point of the season for the UNCW Men’s Basketball team, the team needs to start finding some answers as to what is going wrong and how the team can get things going. Today at his weekly news conference, we asked Coach C.B. McGrath to give some light into those answers.

He said in order to change the play on the court, the mentality has to change off the court. Coach McGrath attributes some of the struggles to the energy not translating from practice to the games and as a result, the defense has struggled heavily, especially guarding the three.

Out of 351 Division 1 teams in the country, UNCW ranks second to last defensively for three-point percentage.

Coach says the conference is still wide open but changes have to be made.

“There shouldn’t be a lack of concentration, it’s a basketball game,” Coach McGrath said. “Your goal is to the best you can to be successful in order to have a chance to win. Our margin for error is not really big. We have to be really good, be in our right spots and have the correct positioning on the defensive end to have a chance.”

The Seahawks finish off their three game road trip tomorrow against Elon before returning home Saturday against Northeastern.

We’ll have the highlights right here on WWAY.
