Funeral arrangements announced for Whiteville High School athlete killed in crash

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Whiteville High School athlete killed in a recent crash. 

A visitation for Kaiden Powell will be held Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at S & L Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fair Bluff.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Whiteville High School.

Powell was involved in a crash which took his life and injured three other student athletes.

According to a family member, the crash happened on Sunset Terrace just west of Whiteville near Legion Stadium. The four teens’ vehicle careened into a ditch and flipped several times until it landed a few hundred feet away.
