Gator gridlock causes stir on Highway 17

JONES COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A large reptile, not car, caused a traffic snafu on Highway 17 in Jones County Monday.

This picture, posted by Jones County Sheriff Danny Heath, shows the reptile hanging out on the highway near Pollocksville.

According to WCTI, the gator was spotted just before 7:00 p.m. and wasn’t moved until about 10:00 p.m. Wildlife officers said they would relocate the gator.

Witnesses say the gator was between six and seven feet long.
