Giving Tuesday: Red Cross highlights need after aiding 286 Cape Fear disasters

CAPE FEAR, NC (WWAY) — The day after cyber-Monday is known as Giving Tuesday, an opportunity to assist and support others in need.

The Red Cross helped victims recover from Hurricane Helene. Also responded to 286 disasters in the Cape Fear region this past year and many of them being house fires.

Regional Disaster Director, James Jarvis says, a way to mark this Giving Tuesday is by supporting causes that are important to you.

“So, if you were to see somebody from your church or from your community that’s displaced, due to a disaster, like a home fire, know that your American Red Cross is there to help that family,” Jarvis said.

Jarvis says there are three ways to give to the Red Cross you can give the gift of life, a blood donation. You can give treasure in the form of money. You can give your time by signing up to volunteer.
