Governor encourages folks to remain calm during gas shortage
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Governor Pat McCrory is calling on drivers in our area to calm dow while the gasoline problems are dealt with.
McCrory said the gas problem is a short term problem and will remain so if we follow guidelines like he has issued, such as price gouging rules. McCrory said they have gotten hundreds of complaints of price gouging, which are being referred to the Attorney General’s office.
The governor said right now folks should cancel all non-essential travel to make it through the next couple of days, and if you’re thinking of rushing out to top off that gas tank, don’t.
“That causes more problems than anything especially during the next 24 hours,” McCrory said.
The governor said North Carolina and western Tennessee are likely the places most impacted by the pipeline. He said the western part of the state has seen some major fuel outages. But in Raleigh, this morning things were basically back to normal. He said east of Charlotte, and in our area, things are expected to go back to normal pretty quickly.
